They are! We use the entirely arbirary but 100% correct* SHAWIN algorithm, wherein we compare the hash of the two combatants to the hash of their combination. The closest one wins!

Listen, the SHA-512 algorithm is called that because it's at least 512 times smarter than us. It's taking things into account that you and I, as mere non-cryptographic mortals, can't even comprehend. So just go with it!
